Did the public believe in war? Did they trust that relatives, family and
friends were being slaughtered on the battlefield for an unjust reason?
What were people thinking. I have been taught the tension leading up to
World War One. I know the people behind the desks declaring war with each
other. I know why the war happened, but I do not know what it would be
like to put my faith into an authority figure, risking my life for a
person that I had never met. Who says that these people have the authority
to declare war? What gives them right to send men of families and yet they
do not own us. People at that time were in a constant cycle, not knowing
whether they should go and die for their country, or live a life of shame
knowing that they could of helped. This makes me mistrust these people,
pressurising people into dieing, people were just figures and data to
them. It was just about winning and losing not caring about the amount of
dead.
