In the year 2006 there was the annual Fifa world cup in Germany. All the football teams in the world get together and are put into groups. There is the knockout round that is held in the groups such as group A group B etc. After the knockout round the teams at the top of their groups play the other teams at the top of their groups and then this is repeated until it gets to the final, the winning team wins the Fifa world cup.
