The Gulf War

In 1990, Iraq invaded nearby Kuwait, hoping to gain control over Kuwait's oil wells. this lead to the Gulf war, which started in 1991. A group of countries led by the USA and Saudi Arabia, attacked Iraq to force it to free Kuwait. After two months Iraq lost the war but Iraq and Kuwait were really badly damaged.
