Money Quarry Bank Mill was so successful because Samuel Greg came from a family that was used to finding new ways of making money. He inherited the mill from his uncle. Greg wanted to use spinning frames because these would spin cotton more quickly and make cotton cheaper. In the 18th century the population was increasing so therefore the more and more people there were in Britain, they wanted more and more cotton. People in the 18th century began to spend much more money than they ever had done before. Some of it was being spent on clothes, hence, a boost in the cotton industry. A great deal of people abroad were spending their money on British goods as Britain expanded her trade all over the world. Another money point which helped Quarry Bank Mill become successful was that cheaper coal was being used and better ways of making iron had been invented, this soon made steam engines very profitable. From the 1830's onwards, Quarry Bank Mill increased it's profits by using weaving looms powered by steam.
