Skill and vision of individuals

Quarry Bank Mill was so successful because Samuel Greg  came from a family that was used to finding new ways of making money.  He was a serious, hard-working, energetic man who was determined to achieve a lot.  He came up with the idea of using spinning frames as he knew that they would spin cotton quicker and make the cotton cheaper.  The iron industry was improving and better iron made better machines for spinning and weaving.
