The Inventions

As well as buying great inventions, Quarry Bank Mill also created inventions. Quarry bank mill was so successful because Samuel Gregg wanted to use spinning frames as these would spin cotton more quickly and this would make cotton cheaper, therefore this would help their profit to increase. It was no longer possible to house the new machines in cottages or small workshops, but Quarry Bank Mill was not a cottage nor a small workshop, it was a large mill/factory. Quarry bank mill was so successful because it had stronger power source (the fast stream), which is what the new machines needed. This helped to made the work quicker, easier, and helped make much better goods. The mill could buy the inventions earlier than most other mills, as it had the money. This gave them even more of an advantage in competition with the other English factories which were created the same type of goods.
