The Iron, the coal, and the steam The use of cheaper coal and better ways of making iron increased, the cheap prices made steam engines very profitable. In the eighteen- forties iron was used for making new iron floors and iron balconies. From the 1830’s it increased its profits by using weaving looms powered by steams. New ways of making iron improved machines for spinning and weaving. These balconies were created for protection against any chances of fire. The iron was also used for making the new equipment, which was invented to help the Gregs increase their success in the mill. The iron coal and steam was something which was used so much, that if you had easy cheap access to it, you were in luck. This would have given your company an advantage, as the three things were used for so many things.
