Money
Money was very important. Without it, Quarry Bank Mill may not have existed. Fortunately, for Samuel Greg he was born into a middle class family. He was smart and developed his mill carefully and profitably. Not only did money go out, but money was brought in. Samuel sold cloth and cotton as profit and in his advantage, he could afford new technology meaning machinery and workers. He created what you might call a circle. He paid his workers and employees to weave and spin the cotton making cloth, it would then be sold all over the world. The money he made from it, would go towards new technology and help maintain the mill. Then he would improve the mill more and more, taking more employees and the circle begins once again. |
