The Spanish
Civil War is almost a local history topic for us. The
character of the Toulouse region, even today, owes much to
consequences to the conflict which marked such a turning point in
the 20th century. |
Although you may be fortunate enough to have a
direct essay question on the Spanish Civil War at Standard Level
(it is a named conflict for study in Topic 1 and Franco is
a dictator for Topic 3), it is
much more likely that you will be asked to compare two conflicts
(even civil wars) from different regions of the world. In studying Spain, therefore,
you must always be aware of the need to compare the war in Spain
with the civil war in China. This is also an overlap topic for Higher Level
students of the
European Option.
