Economic problems

70% of the war was covered by loans for Germany. 

Bread = 0.54 marks

 

Political problems

Shortages, power cuts, inflation and thousands of soldiers and civilians were dieing from influenza. 

Mutiny from sailors refusing to sail at Kiel. 

Kaiser forced to give power to Reichstag in order to get peace from allies. Eventually the Kaiser leaves. Germany falls into chaos. 

The socialists split between themselves with different goals and especially different ideas for achieving these goals. The was the Social Democratic party led by Friedrich Ebert, the Independent Social Democratic Party led by Hugo Haase and finally the Spartacus League, led by Rosa Luxemburg and Karl Liebknecht was the most extremist of the lot who didn't believe in government and wanted to use assassinations and strikes to get what they wanted.
