Weimar Germany is remembered for its political
instability up to 1923, the great economic disasters of hyperinflation and
the depression, the disappointing industrial output and worst of all the
Rise of Adolf Hitler. However From the start of the republic in 1918 to
its official end in 1933 the the German culture went from strength to strength.
It is surprising How little the problems of these years affected German
culture. Even when Hindenburg used article 48 in 1930 German culture
boomed. During the period Berlin replaced Paris as the cultural capital of
Europe and German artists excelled in 4 cinema and photography, music and
literature and architecture and design. |
