An Introduction to
Archaeology - Detecting the Past |
|
- Explain the difference between archaeology, palaeontology and
history.
- Using the sources on pages 6 and 7, how might an archaeologist
begin to answer the following questions:
(a) How has the landscape changed?
(b) How have people's diet and health changed?
(c) How have customs and beliefs changed?
(d) How has human technology changed?
(e) How old is the human species?
- Explain what is meant by sources that are intentional and those
that are unintentional and sources which are organic and those which
are inorganic.
- Make a timeline to include all the sources illustrated or
mentioned on pages 6 and 7. The earliest source is Lucy, the most
recent is the rag doll 'columbia'. Using the internet in pairs, find
at least five pictures to illustrate your timeline. Use this timeline
made by Sara last year to help you. You should find a problem in
trying to incorporate Lucy into your timeline. What is it?
