Economically at this period Germany was beginning to have some troubles. Although at this period, many people began to realise that the cost of reparations would destroy Germany.

The Treaty of Versailles said that Germany had to pay compensation to the Allies. The cost of repairing the damage done to the Allies would come up to 132, 000 million gold marks which is about £112, 000 million. The German Government paid the first installment of this massive price in 1921.
1922

In 1922 the German Government announced to the world that they couldn't pay the reparations for the next three years. They decided to take what they were owed by force.
