Persecution of the Disabled: Disabled people were considered as a waste of money. The Germans questioned the amount of money they wasted on the disabled per year. 1923: By 1923 surgeons in certain areas in Germany were doing sterilisations illegally. January 1932: A Sterilisation Law was drafted by the Prussia state government. January 1934: A new law was created, 'Law for the Prevention of Hereditarily diseased children. This law allowed the sterilisation of disabled children. Within 11 years of this law being passed more than 360 000 sterilisations had been done. October 1939: Disabled children were sent to special hospitals where they were starved or poisoned. As if that wasn't bad enough, next was the killing of children with badly formed ears or youngster that wet the bed. Adults who were disabled were then killed. |
