The Spanish Civil War: Literature, Art and Cinema

There are many good reasons to spend time looking at the impact of the Spanish Civil War on culture in the 20th century. As well as overlapping with the IB world literature option, there have even been History examination questions on how the 'Arts' were affected by the war.
For the literature of the 30s with particular reference to the Spanish war see the general reading list. On art, Picasso's is central. This fantastic history site by David Hart includes images of Picasso's work as it progressed. On Spanish Civil War cinema in general, this article by David Archibald of the Guardian newspaper is a good overview. For Ken Loach's Land and Freedom you should consider the following questions and for further information consult this article by Ian Davies of Edgewood College, Madison.
