There had
been a “stalemate” in the fighting for a few years, and
the countries that were still neutral were being asked to
choose a side to be on, and help attack new, enemy
countries. If the sides that had already been fighting could
persuade these countries, then both sides believed that
these new fronts would provide the fresh chance to break
through these new (and old) enemy lines. |
